A daily reflection on 1 Corinthians 3:16 from Pastor Bay:
How do you see yourself? Did you know that many human beings live their entire lives without reaching their full potential, often because they never see themselves the way that God sees them? It's like they set themselves up for defeat, or sentence themselves into living a life that is not the fullness of what God desires for them. Some days, I am right there with them, I've got to be honest!
For any of you reading this, feeling like God has more in store for you than what you're currently experiencing... I've got great news for you! "Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”
The Spirit of God lives in you, even when you feel inadequate, or like you're only living half alive... the God who caused the lame to walk, the blind to see, the dead to rise... "lives in you."
You are the temple. A sacred place. A place where people encounter the living God, because God is living in you. There may be days that you just aren't feeling it, you're fed up, and tired, exhausted... Feeling like God has more in store for you...
Hear this: You've already received it. Receive that gift! God is living in you, making your life into a holy space! A temple!
Seek God, and find reason to worship wherever you are, because that is the life God intends for you...a life of giving praise and worshipping, and celebrating God...
You don't have to wait for Sunday, or until you walk into a temple... "Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”
Worship God. Love your neighbor. Love yourself. Never again yield to seeing yourself as less than who you truly are: you are the beloved of God, one whom God loves so much that he moves in... Into your life, so that you may truly have life, and live it abundantly.
PRAYER
God, thank you for moving in... For moving into my life, and thank you for the fact that you will never leave me. Today, if I feel less than worthy, remind me that you love me, and that you are always with me. Remind me that, in You, I have become a place where others can see you, because you are with me. Allow me to show someone else your love, God. I worship you... May I worship you fully. This is my prayer, in the name of Jesus Christ my savior. Amen.
